Compare Roald Dahl’s life with life today. Give three examples of things that are different. Your text should be about 500 words. When you compare something, make sure to describe both sides. Write your answers in Drive, make sure your document is in your English folder.

Todays lesson 12/9

  1. Open a new document in Drive. Make sure you're in your English folder when you open the document (then it will be at the right place from start). Name it Oprah Summary.
  2. Write a summary about Oprah on The David Letterman show. Start like this: I saw this show when Oprah gets interviewed by Letterman. They talk aboutAnd then continue on your own, like you would retell the program to a friend.
  3. Also mention one thing that especially impressed you about her.
  4. Write a question that you wish Letterman had asked her.
  5. What more do you know of Oprah Winfrey?
  6. When you are done, read the instructions again and make sure you have answered all the questions.

Here you can listen to Oprah Winfrey at The Late Show with David Letterman. Listen and answer the questions as you go along. The questions are in order. You copy the questions into a new document which you keep in you English folder.

Homework for Thursday 5/9

This time you choose an article you like. Digg.com is a webbsite where people share articles they liked to read.

  1. Choose an article to read.
  2. Pick 10 words (or more) that you think are useful.
  3. Add them to your wordlist.
  4. Translate them in their context (meaning - look up what the word means in this sentence)
  5. Prepare to tell your peers about your article
  6. Open a document in Drive that looks something like this.
  7. Remember to write your keywords on a paper so you can have them in front of you when you hold your presentation.

  4. Work with the words so that you learn them.
